LiD Coach privacy policy
This privacy policy covers the LiD Coach iPhone app and the website lidcoach.getovr.app.
In short:
- No account, no server of mine: your progress, settings and reminders stay on your device.
- The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. In the EU/EEA the app asks for your consent first (Google UMP).
- Only non-personalised ads are requested. The advertising identifier (IDFA) isn’t used and there is no App Tracking Transparency prompt.
- No third-party analytics or crash-reporting tools in the app.

2. Data on your device
LiD Coach stores your learning progress (answered questions, mistakes, streaks, XP, exam results), your federal state, language and appearance settings and reminder times only on your iPhone. There is no account and nothing is sent to me. Daily reminders are local iOS notifications that the app asks permission for. You can reset your progress in Settings; deleting the app removes all its data.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob) and consent (Google UMP)
The free version shows ads: banners, one native ad in topic lists, and occasionally a full-screen ad after a practice round. Ads never appear during lessons, questions or the exam. The ad provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”).
Consent: On first launch after onboarding, the app shows a consent form via Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP, IAB TCF) if you are in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland. Ads are requested only as far as your consent and choices allow. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time under Settings → About → “Ad privacy options”.
Ads or ad-free (“consent or pay”): In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, the app first asks whether you want to use LiD Coach free with ads or ad-free. If you choose ad-free, you make the one-time purchase “Remove ads” (price shown in the App Store, e.g. €2.99). No consent form is then shown, the ad SDK isn’t started and no data is sent to Google for advertising. If you choose free with ads, you can consent or decline in Google’s form. Without consent the app stays fully usable; you then only see limited ads, as far as Google allows them without consent. All learning content is free either way.
Non-personalised: The app only requests non-personalised ads. It doesn’t use the advertising identifier (IDFA), shows no App Tracking Transparency prompt and doesn’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
What Google processes: Even for non-personalised ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK processes technical data such as your IP address (for approximate region), device type and model, OS and app version, language, ad interactions (impressions, clicks) and diagnostic and performance data. Google uses this to deliver ads, prevent fraud, cap frequency and measure ads. Google may also use the vendor identifier (IDFV). Details: How Google uses information from partner apps, Google Privacy Policy, AdMob data disclosure.
SKAdNetwork: The app supports Apple’s SKAdNetwork for privacy-preserving install attribution. Ad networks receive only aggregated information from Apple that can’t be traced back to you.
Legal basis: Storing or reading information on your device for advertising only with your consent (§ 25(1) TDDDG, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Otherwise, serving non-personalised ads to fund the free app is based on my legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), as far as your UMP choices permit. Google may transfer data to the US under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR) or standard contractual clauses (Art. 46 GDPR).
4. In-app purchase “Remove ads”
You buy it through the App Store with your Apple ID. Apple handles payment, billing and refunds (Apple Privacy Policy). The app verifies Apple’s signed purchase receipt on the device and stores only the fact that ads were removed. After that it requests no more ads. I receive no payment data.
5. App Store, crash reports, analytics
The app contains no third-party analytics or crash-reporting tools. If you turned on “Share With App Developers” in iOS, Apple gives me anonymised crash reports and aggregated statistics in App Store Connect. You can switch this off under Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
6. This website
lidcoach.getovr.app sets no cookies, uses no tracking and loads nothing from third parties. It is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you open a page, the host processes technically necessary server logs (IP address, time, requested URL, referrer, user agent, status code) to deliver and protect the site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR; retention: Cloudflare doesn’t publish a fixed period; they are kept only as long as needed for operation and security). Transfers to the US rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
6a. Contacting me by email
If you email me, I process your address and message to reply (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). I delete them once your request is settled, unless I’m legally required to keep them.
7. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)), in the app via “Ad privacy options”. I receive no app data from you, so for data held by Google you can also contact Google directly. You may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR); the one responsible for me is the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Der Hessische Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit, HBDI), Postfach 3163, 65021 Wiesbaden, Germany, https://datenschutz.hessen.de.
8. Other
I don’t carry out automated decision-making or profiling. The app is not directed at children under 16. If the processing changes, I will update this policy first.
